It starts………

Bible-loveOK, so maybe this post is the most important one of all. No pressure then. It’s the one where I set out my vision and inspire you to join me on my journey. The vision needs to sound non-threatening but inspiring. It needs to be inclusive. It needs to convey all the excitement about where we can go with this and what we can do with it that is currently in my head.

Back in June, I finished my nine month series on the Fruits of the Spirit that took place on Facebook, in creativity sessions and a group for women. Many, including myself, asked ‘What next?’ I had no idea. And then suddenly I did. I wondered what it would be like to use one book of the Bible a month to inspire, discuss, inform, prompt and journey with. I worked out it would take five and a half years to get through the whole thing – have I got that stickability? has anyone else? Facebook might not even be around in five and a half years time!

And there, I’ve done it. I’ve mentioned the Bible. That may well have put half of you off straight away. ‘Oh well, if it’s about the Bible, it’s not for me.’ ‘The Bible? Really? How boring!’ ‘You see, I told you all along she was a Bible basher!’

bible_read_meLet’s be clear. I have no agenda here to convert or convince or persuade. I believe the Bible is the most wonderful collection of books of all time, that has something to say for all of us wherever we are on our journey through life. I believe it offers fantastic tips on how to lead a happier, healthier life for all of us and let’s face it, happiness seems to be what all of us seek and yet is so hard to find.

I am no Bible scholar. None of these posts will be heavy and difficult to understand. I intend to draw from my own life story, material I have written before, the creative gifts of others – and have a lot of fun along the way. This is a joint venture between Andy and myself, as his mind works completely differently to mine and hopefully, as in life, our contributions will complement one another. I’ve also invited my talented friend Helen Holmes to get on board to add her unique perspective primarily through her gifted photography.

Via this blog, I’ll be inviting you to events along the way, so if anything grabs your interest, you can come along and join in. Don’t worry, you don’t have to sign up to reading every word of the Bible. You will not be tested on what you know or made to look small for what you don’t know. Join the journey with an open mind and let’s see where it takes us…….
